Nutritional and the Effects on Teeth Bowl of Fruit
Adolescents Grades 6-12

Eating a sugar or starchy (carbohydrates) snack results in acid attacking the teeth. This can last up to 20 minutes. Many snack foods and drinks contain sugar. It is the sugar that gives us energy, and we often eat a snack when we are tired or hungry to get that extra energy boost. If at all possible carry a toothbrush and toothpaste and brush or floss the teeth after eating. The new "finger toothbrushes" slip on the finger and then can be thrown away right after use.

For more information go to the Parents Section: Nutritional Food.
