Housing

A significant percentage of the housing along the Texas-Mexico border lacks complete plumbing and kitchen facilities (Table 7). Poor plumbing and unsanitary conditions, especially in the border colonias1, factor into the high communicable disease rates. Much of the housing is without heat and telephone service.
